Microsoft has announced today DLC for certain games will carry over from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. EA, Activision and Ubisoft have all signed on for what is called the Season Pass Guarantee. Basically, you only have to buy one season pass for a game, even if that game is coming out for both current-gen and next-gen, and the content can be shared across both systems. Games such as Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 will support the Season Pass Guarantee Activision and EA confirmed today, respectively.
Activision and EA’s announcement also includes sharing of DLC between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, as well — although Sony has announced no official first-party system as of yet.
This is great news for those who decide not to jump the gun on next-gen purchases this holiday season. Gamers can now rest easy knowing DLC add-ons for their favorite games don’t have to be purchased a second time when they upgrade to the next-gen consoles.
