Remember that tech concept that Microsoft showed off earlier this year that made the walls of your home into a video game? It was called the Illumiroom, and it looked pretty cool, the only problem is, it cost too much.

In a recent interview with AusGamers, Microsoft revealed that this cost will prohibit them from briging the device to retail. “It’s really super-neat if you’re in the lab and you’ve got Microsoft money and you could totally set up this awesome lab, but…we looked at it, but for an average customer it’s, like, thousands of dollars for the set up.”

Microsoft revealed the technology earlier this year at CES, and it definitely got game fans talking when it comes to what the future might hold. We’ll just have to wait and see if costs ever come down to the point where Microsoft can mass produce this sort of thing and release it as a mass market device. For now, it looks like the Illumiroom will not be arriving on the Xbox One.
