Just when we thought that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain coming out in 2015 was a foregone conclusion, a new rumor has surfaced that says differently. In a post from 4chan, which means it must be held with a super small grain of salt, an employee that was said to be one of twenty employees at Kojima Productions LA Studio that were fired released some possible major information about the story of Metal Gear Solid V, but also a very interesting release date tidbit.
According to this leaker, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release before the year is over and this news will be revealed during TGS. He said that the game is currently 80% finished and that the AI in the game is what caused the delay initially.
The leaker goes into some details on the story, which you can see gathered in the post from NeoGAF right here, but refused to give any details about the ending as he said he is a major fan of the series and would never ruin anything like that for anyone.
The evidence provided by the leaker is the above image, so it is far from anything for sure, but is interesting to hear regardless. With all of the big games of 2014 being pushed to 2015, it would be awesome to get Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain instead. The really strange part is that I find it hard to believe a game like this at 80% in August would be ready for an end of the year release, but we’ll just have to wait and see at this point. At this point, more than likely this rumor is nothing more than that, but sometimes these surprise us.
