Gearbox Software has revealed that the most popular character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is Athena.

Gearbox Software President, Randy Pitchford, tweeted the following fact about his new game:

“So… the current most-popular character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is Athena. Guess who is least picked?”

Pitchford didn’t follow up on the tweet to reveal who the least popular character is in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Many people have guessed that poor Claptrap the robot is the least favorite among players. This could be the fact that he’s small and doesn’t look like your typical FPS main character.

It’s not surprising that Athena is the most picked character among players of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. She is effectively the main character of the game and is the default choice. She is also quick and can wield swords.

It will be interesting to see how popular Wilhelm and Nisha are. Wilhelm looks a bit like Wolverine while Nisha is a sassy cowboy girl. Both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to combat in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. I’ve been playing as Nisha and feel her special ability is cool, but her melee attack of the whip is pretty weak.

Who did you choose to play as in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel?
