After what has certainly felt like a lot of waiting for Star Wars: Battlefront fans, the very first trailer has finally debuted at Star Wars Celebration. The trailer, which can be seen above, premiered t 1:30pm Eastern Time after a long period of anticipation. Fans were finally treated to their first look at the upcoming multiplayer shooter, which promises to revive the storied franchise in grand fashion. The trailer is said to be in-engine footage so while it might have creative camera angles, it should be representative of the final game. It can’t be confirmed, but the logos seem to indicate that this trailer was recorded on the PS4 version of the game.
For those that haven’t played a Star Wars: Battlefront game before: the series works similarly to other large shooter games. Massive teams of players battle it out to either accomplish various objectives, or finish off the other team by eliminating their supply of respawns. Things get crazy when vehicles start to appear, with players able to jump in and pilot their favorite ships from the Star Wars franchise.
This game acts as a sort of sequel/reboot of the series, actually existing as the third in the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise. After its developer shut down, EA enlisted DICE to take over control, producing the game we see today. More info is expected to come out of this week’s celebration, so keep checking back for more news as it develops.
Star Wars: Battlefront will launch on November 17th, 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
