A few days ago, we here at Attack of the Fanboy reported that Mortal Kombat X was experiencing a slew of unfortunate issues, ranging from memory leaks to frame rate caps, on PC. NetherRealm quickly acknowledged the problems and went to work on figuring out a fix. Today that fix came through in the form of a massive 15GB patch.

A full set of patch notes were not released, but the following is the extremely short list of what the developer made known regarding the update:

  • Optimized shaders to improve graphics performance
  • Fixed an issue to prevent replays from using up too much hard drive storage space

The sizable patch aimed to tackle the glaring poor optimization of the game at launch and, according to Steam’s forums, it looks like it has succeeded. Many have started commenting with positive feedback, stating that the post-patch game provides an infinitely better experience.

NetherRealm went an extra step and offered an apology gift to PC players. Next time you log into Mortal Kombat X on PC, you will be treated to 10,000 Krypt Koins. If you’re unsure what this in-game currency is used for, Krypt Koins unlock content in the Krypt “such as Skins, Fatalities, Brutalities, and more.” Is it a decent freebie for dealing with three days of problematic gameplay? I’ll let you be the judge of that. Sound off in the comments below!
