A recent report looks to point to a new Front Mission game being in development over at Square Enix’s Japan studios and it has some developers involved with a heavy mech based background. Particularly former Armored Core V producer, Toshifumi Nabeshima.
The report comes from Siliconera who reports that the game is currently in development over at Square Enix Japan. Toshifumi Nabeshima has worked on other mech based titles such as Chromehounds over at From Software, which was published by SEGA. He also worked on Armored Core V for Bandai Namco. It seems that he will continue this according to the report as he is expected to be the producer for the upcoming Front Mission game.
Front Mission has long been a sci-fi RPG/strategy type of game, but the most recent release, Front Mission Evolved had a very Armored Core feel to it so it makes sense that Square would bring on someone with that type of development background to produce a title like that. Front Mission Evolved was done by Double Helix.
No word on when this game might be announced let alone released. Depending on how far along it is, it could be safe to assume an announcement at Tokyo Game Show later this year.
