[Update] Nuketown in Black Ops 3 Looks Completely Different

Activision has confirmed today that Nuketown will be in Black Ops 3 and that the map will be included with the game as a pre-order bonus.  If the promotional material is any indication, the popular map looks a lot different than it did in the previous two Black Ops games.

The version of Nuketown in Black Ops 3 looks much more futuristic than it did in previous iterations, as you can see in the image above.   The map might also have a different layout than fans are accustomed to, as the new gameplay mechanics like wall-running and boost jumping would need to work as well.

Nuketown has been loved by Call of Duty fans as one of the smaller maps in the series.  The original Nuketown was based on a replica of suburban United States that was used to detonate nuclear weapons in a residential area.  Nuketown in Black Ops 2 was a bit more modernized, but retained almost an identical layout.

Activision announced today that everyone who pre-orders or has already pre-ordered the game will get access to the new map.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is slated for release this November.

Update:  A press release from Activision has revealed that Nuketown will only be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.  As well as comments from Treyarch’s Mark Lamia regarding the design of the fan-favorite map:  “We carefully adapted the design of the map to make sure that it fit with our new movement system, but to also make sure that we retained the spirit and the fun that made fans fall in love with it in the first place.”
