Capcom is one of the longest running companies in all of gaming, bringing us countless games over the years, many of which spawned franchises. In more recent years however, the company has seemed to stray away from some of the classic franchises that made it so popular, but it sounds like they may be looking to the past to setup their future.
There have been many complaints by fans of Capcom franchises in recent years for their shunning of many classic franchises, such as Mega Man. That is one of their most iconic characters and yet the games have been all but dead on the Capcom front.
However, Capcom revealed during their recent investor’s meeting that they may be looking at some existing IPs for future games.
“We also possess a vast library of content in which there remains multiple IP that have not yet been utilized to their full potential—these issues we will handle moving forward. Moreover, we will endeavor forfurther profitability improvements and unit sales growth by releasing all titles finished to a high level of quality.”
Hopefully this just means their idea of “utilized to their full potential” doesn’t mean some cheap mobile game to cash in on the name, which it seemed like Capcom was more focused on for awhile.
Likely this won’t mean we will see the return of Mega Man Legends 3, but maybe we can at least get a new Mega Man game or perhaps something more underrated like a new Viewtiful Joe or Okami game.
