EA showed us the first official gameplay of Battlefield 1 during their E3 press conference, revealing incredible graphics and new Behemoth ultimate vehicles that will be shaking up the gameplay. There will be a few new ways that Battlefield 1 will make its mark on the fps genre later this year, which go towards making sure that “no battle is ever the same.”
Thanks to the deeply destructible environments and the dynamic weather system, the aim is that there will be plenty of elements that ensure each battle remains interesting. “For even more gameplay possibilities, carve a path through walls and buildings, take down your enemies in creative ways, and leave your mark on the terrain around you through intuitive destruction. Through your actions, the pristine world around you will change into a battle-scarred landscape, changing the world forever.”
The changing weather comes into play by impacting both visibility and hearing, as each level will have the potential to be played on a clear day, a foggy day or a rainy day.
The final distinction is the Operations multiplayer game mode, which is “a series of interconnected battles across multiple fronts. Play a sequence of battles where your actions have consequences beyond a single match, as you try to conquer territory or push back your attackers.”
Finally, while the game won’t be launching until this October, there will be another way for gamers to get a taste of the action before that. It was revealed that an open beta will be going live for the game this Summer, though specific details on when it will begin were not shared.
