When The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered was announced at E3 2016 last week, it was revealed that some PC owners were able to get the game for free if they owned the original game. Bethesda has now explained why PS4 and Xbox One gamers won’t get this luxury.
Bethesa’s Pete Hines explained why PS4 and Xbox One owners are not getting the same treatment by replying to a fan about it on Twitter. He basically said it’s free because PC owners already have access to high resolution textures while if you buy it on PS4/Xbox One, it will be a new game compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
He said: “We’re making a game available for Xbox one and PS4. It already exists on PC, with high res textures.” He later said that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered will still be $60 for console owners because it’s migrating to newer systems.
The fan kept bugging Hines notifying him that the Dishonored Remaster on PS4 and Xbox One was cheaper than $60 when it came out. Hines just mentioned that every game is different so this is way it is still $60. Basically, Hines is emphasizing that the PS4/Xbox One version of the game is a new experience for console owners so that’s why you have to pay full price for it…
