At E3 2016, CD Projekt Red made official what fans had been speculating for some time: Gwent: The Witcher Card Game was coming. The now standalone game began life as a mini-game contained within The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The response to the game was so strong that CD Projekt Red set about creating a complete product out of it. And now, with the game fully revealed, they are thanking the people responsible for making it happen, their fans.

“Aside from the fact that we were finally able to shout out that we’re working on an awesome game, this was a special moment for us because of one more thing — we could say THANKS to a very special group of people who made GWENT possible: you,” reads the statement by Marcin IwiÅ„ski, Co-founder of CD Projekt Red.

“Please allow me to say that one more time: I would like to thank all Wild Hunt / GWENT fans for supercharging us to make GWENT: The Witcher Card Game happen,” he continues. “Supercharging is a pretty good word, because the flood of emails, calls, forum posts, and everything else was simply crazy. There was a moment that literally everything was beeping, buzzing, vibrating and otherwise communicating one idea: GWENT or nothing. I mean, over 40 fan-made versions of GWENT were created, people printed their own cards, made real wooden playing boards — positive madness.”

For those people, and the millions more who have played Gwent in The Witcher 3, CPR hopes that they will all sign up for the Gwent beta that begins in September for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The developer has already shown how much they listen to their fans, so this beta should allow the final product to become much more in-line with their expectations. The full version of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will hit an unknown time after the beta.
