How To Get Bioshock: The Collection’s Free Upgraded Versions On PC

Bioshock first wowed us when it released back in 2007 and was followed up by the still quite good Bioshock 2 and the multiple game of the year award winning Bioshock Infinite. An upgraded collection for the three games was announced previously as Bioshock: The Collection, and now we know how the free upgrade itself works for PC.

While owners of the console versions will have to buy Bioshock: The Collection outright, those who already owned the games on PC are able to get the upgraded Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock 2: Minerva’s Den DLC at no extra cost. Bioshock Infinite is not included in this because the version on PC is already at the best version.

As revealed through Steam, those who actually own Bioshock, Bioshock 2 or the Minerva’s Den DLC on Steam will instantly find the new versions of the game in their games library starting on September 15 at 3 pm PT. At this point, you will be asked if you want to install the original or remastered version.

Those who owned the game physically or digitally through Windows Live will find the process a little harder, especially for the first game. For anyone that owned the original Bioshock physically on PC, you will not find a code or anything to use more than likely. Instead, you submit your Steam profile information and proof of purchase of the original to 2K on their support site.

Bioshock 2 is a little easier, as there should be a code for you to use from either your Games With Windows physical or digital copy. This code should be entered through Steam and will provide you with the upgraded version.

If you are having any trouble with this, make sure to consult the Steam page that has details and where you can get further help on this matter. Look for Bioshock: The Collection to hit Xbox One and PS4 on September 13 while the PC version is coming on September 15.
