Xbox One sales are skyrocketing with the release of the Xbox One S… at least in the UK market. Â According to a recent report from mcvuk, the Xbox One S 500GB and 1TB models bolstered Xbox One sales by nearly 1000%. Â As for Sony’s newer, slimmer PlayStation 4, the results have not been quite as good.
Consumers shying away from the new model PS4 shouldn’t be too surprising. Â While many leaks gave us a full breakdown ahead of the console’s announcement ahead of a New York-based unveiling, said unveiling of the console also announced a more powerful version of the PlayStation 4 to arrive later this year.
Known as the PlayStation 4 “Pro,” this could be the reason that many are waiting on purchasing Sony’s console at the moment.
Another reason that Xbox One may be seeing a resurgence in sales are the features included in the new slimmed down console. Â The Xbox One supports HDR, 4K Streaming, and 4K UHD Blu-ray. Â Even when Sony releases their Pro version of the PlayStation 4, it will be lacking in the 4K Blu-ray department.
The Xbox One S has a base price of  $299, with Sony’s slimmed down hardware costing the same.  The PlayStation Pro will be out in October for a $100 dollar premium.
Regardless, holiday shoppers will have plenty of options to weigh when buying a console, and as always, it’ll be interesting to see which platform draws the most interest during this important sales season.
