Capcom is expecting Resident Evil 7 to sell lots of copies when it comes out in early 2017. It could be the game to steer the series in the right direction.

Capcom reported on its recent financial earnings with all of the information supplied on a PDF file. There is a forecast for how well future games will sell.

Resident Evil 7 is on top of the list as Capcom expects to sell 4 million units. It was also revealed that the PS4 demo was downloaded over 4 million times, so the company’s estimate sounds accurate.

As for other video games, Capcom expects Dead Rising 4 to sell over 2 million units. The game is only coming out for PC and Xbox One so that’s why it may not sell as many copies as RE7. Not to mention the Dead Rising series is not as well known either. The Japanese exclusive Monster Hunter XX on 3DS is also anticipated to sell over 2 million units.

A lot of pressure is riding on the success of Resident Evil 7. Lots of people were disappointed with the direction of Resident Evil 6. The 7th game has been getting a lot of positive buzz thanks to its demos on PS4, so that is a good sign. Not to mention PlayStation VR compatibility has added to the intrigue.
