Pokemon Go players, get ready to go running around, searching for every Pokemon you can once again, because Niantic just revealed the Thanksgiving event and it’s a good one. The Pokemon Go Thanksgiving event will give players a few days worth of double Stardust and XP for every in-game action. This means catching Pokemon and all those other tasks will give you double the usual levels of these precious items, all starting on November 23rd.
“It has been an incredible experience since we launched Pokémon GO a few short months ago in July,” reads the announcement from Niantic. “We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise. We are humbled that hundreds of millions of you around the world have joined us on this journey. So we would like to say thank you – and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community. So, starting November 23rd at 00:00 UTC and going through November 30th 00:00 UTC, we will double the amount of XP and Stardust you receive when completing in-game actions.”
Stardust has become a hugely important part of the Pokemon Go experience, especially for those players that have entered the later stages of the game. Once you’ve caught and evolved all the Pokemon you need, the more important thing is being able to power them up, which requires a whole lot of Stardust. Getting double of this precious resource will be very good for late game players.
XP is also great, especially considering the large XP wall that players hit right around level 30. Double XP for random things will be great, but if it stacks with Lucky Eggs (which it definitely should) it will be a huge boost for a lot of players. Just get ready to save up those Pidgeys and Rattatas, cause you’ll want to maximize your returns.
There’s no set end date for the Pokemon Go Thanksgiving event, but it will likely be shortly after the holiday is over.
