The Nintendo Switch is only a few months away now and yet there are still many details to be unveiled about Nintendo’s latest console. With the system being a console/handheld hybrid, the Nintendo Switch is very much an unknown in many ways, but the FCC listing for the console may have revealed a few additional details involving the console’s WiFi and Bluetooth support.
The FCC listing for the Nintendo Switch confirms that the system will be supporting 5Ghz WiFi, which is pretty much the standard in the industry these days. The Wii U supported 5Ghz WiFi for the connection between the console and the GamePad, but the internet connectivity itself was only 2.4Ghz WiFi. Considering that the Nintendo Switch’s handheld screen won’t be relying on the console itself through streaming, this would seem to confirm that the internet connection will utilize the 5Ghz WiFi this time around.
In addition, the listing also mentions that the system will have some sort of support for Bluetooth as well, though it does not explain to what degree. While it would be nice to have some sort of Bluetooth headset support, the more likely option is that it will be used as a connection for the controller. However, it is possible that it could have both, so we’ll have to wait and see for sure.
