The impending release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has everyone excited for the next grand entry in the long running franchise. Releasing alongside the Nintendo Switch for both it and Wii U, the game is less than a week away and that means reviews will be coming relatively soon. However, as with many games, Edge Magazine has gotten a jump on the rest by giving us our first review for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Similar to how Game Informer is arguably the biggest remaining physical gaming magazine in the US, which has led to them getting earlier reviews out there than those online, Edge Magazine has done the same in the UK. We saw this in the past and now they have given us the first official review for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in their latest issue, though it is actually from the digital version of the magazine that is now available for subscribers.

Information about the latest issue has been provided by a poster on NeoGAF, who revealed that Edge gave The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild a 10/10. Further details that are possible spoilery are provided later in the thread, but you can choose to read that for yourself if you so choose.

The 10/10 score is quite interesting, as Edge Magazine is typically pretty tough on games. With this being a monthly magazine, the issue also revealed their scores for both Horizon: Zero Dawn and Nioh, which both scored a 9/10.

For a more direct comparison, Edge actually gave The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword a 10/10 as well, joining Ocarina of Time before that with Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Majora’s Mask each receiving a 9/10. There are many that have come out as disliking Skyward Sword since, but the game reviewed exceptionally well, garnering numerous perfect scores as well.

Obviously, if you were not a fan of Skyward Sword, Edge giving it and Breath of the Wild both a 10/10 might have you worried, but the two seem to be very different types of games entirely.
