It feels wrong to say that Mass Effect: Andromeda is only a couple of weeks away from release. The game has been hidden away for so long, only shown off in behind-the-scenes features, rather than gameplay trailers, up until a little while ago. Now we’re so close to release that Bioware has teased the Mass Effect: Andromeda launch trailer, which will hit the internet tomorrow – March 10th.
Along with the announcement came a 15 second video tease of what to expect in the Mass Effect: Andromeda launch trailer. It’s mostly just short cuts to various trailers that we’ve seen before, mostly featuring story scenes rather than gameplay. It also has the tagline of “Fight for a New Home”, which fits with the game’s storyline that places players into the new galaxy of Andromeda.
With a whole new setting comes a brand new cast of characters, and some new alien races to learn about, befriend, and possibly more. Yes, Mass Effect: Andromeda is already making the news with its possible lovemaking scenes, which will apparently go much further than we’ve seen before from the franchise. The first Mass Effect actually developed a rather large controversy over its sex scenes, with a particularly memorable Fox News segment that featured the tagline of “Sexbox”.
Mass Effect 2 and 3 had more tame love scenes after that, possibly as a response to the ridiculous controversy. It seems like Bioware is going all the way this time though, so expect more than just awkward kissing and a fade to black with Mass Effect: Andromeda.
The game will be playable at this weekend’s PAX East conference, and we’ll be there as well. If we get lucky enough to go hands-on with the game, expect a full report during or after the show.
Mass Effect: Andromeda hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 21st.
