Nathan McCree, the composer of the soundtrack of the first three Tomb Raider games, is planning to record an album with the music of the trilogy played by a full orchestra and choir, called The Tomb Raider Suite. In order to get the funds, the composer has launched a Kickstarter campaign, with the primary goal to collect 160.000 £.
The project it’s actually at an advanced state, since part of the creative process was already done for the Tomb Raider Live in Concert gig that took part in December of last year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series. McCree has already orchestrated the music and only needs to know the funds he can count on in order to book the recording session, the orchestra, the choir, and the conductor.
McCree really wants The Tomb Raider Suite to sound as good as possible, which is why he wants to record it at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London with a 76-piece orchestra, a 20-voice choir and a world-class conductor. Achieving the stretch goals specified in the campaign would allow McCree to increase the size of the choir, and each section or the orchestra, to remaster and release the original soundtrack pieces, and even to film a documentary about the recording.
