Bandai Namco has shared another video preview of the upcoming Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, this time focused on showcasing the battle gameplay, taking a boss encounter as an example. In the video we can see three main characters taking on a group of various Mumshroom, Petalia, or Whamster Banger monsters, which are then replaced by the Jelly Queen, a huge octopus-like creature that uses a variety of attacks to defend herself from the protagonists, including energy rays launched from the tentacles.
As it has been known from its announcement, Ni no Kuni II exchanges the turn-based battles from the first entry for a more direct approach in real time. As it can be seen in the video, the new battle system allows players to interchange the character they control, while the others remain active on the stage controlled by the AI. Other characteristics of the battle system is that each character can make use of different weapons, and throw special attacks after charging energy for a few seconds.
Earlier this week we showed you a behind the scenes preview in which the developers of the game showcased a new casino-themed city called Goldpaw, which was design taking inspiration on Taiwan. These small samples of the game are very welcome specially now that we’ll have to wait a little longer for it, as the game has been delayed a couple of months.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom launches on March 23 for PS4 and PC. Watch the new video below.
