One of the biggest surprises of last year was the release of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a game with a premise everyone was skeptical of but somehow worked anyway. Interestingly enough, despite the fact that Mario himself stars in the game, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has yet to be released in Nintendo’s home country. Nintendo will be taking over the role of publisher for the Japanese version of the game, which is expected to become available on January 18. However, it looks like there is more planned for the game in the near future.
Originally posted on the Switch Nindies Twitter page, some screenshots of the Japanese eShop seem to indicate that while the game itself, as well as all of its current DLC, is scheduled for a January 18 release in Japan, it would appear that there will be some sort of story expansion DLC in the future as well. The screenshot shows this new DLC’s release date as June 30, though as someone in the comments section mentioned, it’s possible that this is just a placeholder date and that the DLC will release at an unspecified time in Q2 of 2018. It is unknown at this time if this will be a Japan-exclusive DLC or if it will see a worldwide release.
