Psyonix is testing out a new update schedule going forward for their massively popular multiplayer game Rocket League. This will start next month with a February update that will end Competitive Season 6, deliver rewards, and begin Competitive Season 7. Updates will then alternate between content, season changes, and feature updates.

“We’re testing out a new update schedule this year that alternates Content Updates – which include things like new Competitive Seasons (and rewards), Maps, Events, and DLC – with Feature Updates that focus on new functionality like Tournaments or Cross-Platform Parties,” reads the announcement from Psyonix.

“This alternating schedule lets us update on a more frequent and regular cycle, guarantees you won’t have to wait too long between Competitive Seasons, and lets us spend more time perfecting and bug fixing features before they go live.”

The schedule is pretty massive, promising big changes ahead for Rocket League. This will include some new premium paid DLC for March, with few details about what that could be. The developer is also targeting Xbox One X support. The team is also working on cross-platform parties, which would allow players on different systems to team up rather than just play together randomly online.

Rocket League has built an audience of tens of millions. These updates should help keep them all happy throughout 2018.
