Last week, Castle and Firefly actor Nathan Fillion started making some posts on his Twitter and Instagram accounts teasing some sort of Uncharted-related announcement. Many fans got their hopes up, assuming that the teases meant that Fillion would be somehow involved in the Uncharted movie that’s being made. While that turned out to not be the case, what Fillion’s teases amounted to ended up being the next best thing.

Today (July 16), a live-action Uncharted fan film was uploaded to YouTube with Fillion playing series protagonist Nathan Drake. The film is professionally made by director Allan Ungar and faithfully represents what feels like could be a cutscene from an Uncharted game, featuring takes on both the series’s humor and action sequences; there is even a section that takes on a third-person action-adventure game camera perspective. As the film’s very nature as a fan film implies, it is not in any way affiliated with Naughty Dog itself. However, the film has seemed to garner some level of approval, as Nathan Fillion’s Tweet about the film was Retweeted by Amy Hennig, the director of the first three Uncharted games. You can watch the full fan film below, after which you may find yourself joining the ranks of fans clamoring for a full, 2-hour film expanding on the premise laid out in this 14-minute short.
