It’s the 1980s. You’ve been sentenced for a crime you didn’t commit. It’s time to break out of prison and get revenge.

Indie developer Fallen Tree Games and publisher Curve Digital recently announced in a press release the upcoming game American Fugitive, an open-world sandbox action game that is heavily inspired by 80s action movies and video games. Fallen Tree Games is an indie studio comprised of developers that have previously worked on games like TimeSplitters, Crysis, and Goldeneye 007: Reloaded.

In American Fugitive, players will play as Will Riley, a man who has been arrested for the murder of his own father; a crime that he did not commit. Riley breaks out of jail to find the true murderer. In this top-down action game, players will have to blend in with civilians to avoid getting caught by police while also making contacts in the criminal underworld to gather information pertinent to their goals. While exploring the 1980s Americana-inspired small town, players will be able to break into any building they come across to attempt to rob them, steal cars, and participate in firefights with police.

American Fugitive will launch sometime this year for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You can wishlist the game on Steam now. The announcement trailer is below.
