DoorDash has permanently removed a delivery driver from its platform following an incident where the individual arrived at a customer’s home completely naked. The event occurred at a residence located on the northeast side of Houston, near Homestead.
As reported by Fox 26, Kiante Matlock, who resides at the home, was reportedly spending time playing video games with his daughter when the delivery arrived. The pair received a phone notification indicating the order had been dropped off, which prompted Matlock to check his Ring camera to verify the delivery. However, what he witnessed on the footage was entirely unexpected and deeply concerning.
The video captured the delivery person, who possessed shoulder-length dreadlocks, placing the food on the front porch while entirely unclothed. After leaving the items, the driver walked back to his vehicle in a manner that appeared completely casual, as if the situation were entirely normal.
DoorDash has banned the driver
Matlock, a regular user of the delivery service, stated that he was in complete disbelief regarding the reality of the footage he had just reviewed. Because of the nature of the delivery, Matlock reportedly decided to discard the food immediately and did not consume any of the items from that specific order.
Upon reporting the incident, DoorDash reportedly took swift action against the driver. A company spokesperson issued a formal statement regarding the situation, noting that the behavior was handled with extreme seriousness by their internal teams. “What this consumer experienced was abhorrent, and we’ve reached out directly to offer our support. This man’s behavior was vulgar and completely unacceptable, and as soon as we were made aware, our team permanently removed their access to our platform,” the company stated.
They further emphasized their stance on safety, adding, “We do not tolerate sexual harassment or misconduct of any kind, and we stand ready to assist law enforcement with any investigation.” DoorDash confirmed that the driver was removed for violating the company’s community guidelines. All complaints of this nature are reviewed by the dedicated Trust and Safety team at DoorDash to ensure such conduct is addressed.
In addition to banning the driver, the company reportedly provided a full refund to Matlock for the order. The company also encouraged customers who encounter concerning or inappropriate behavior during a delivery to report the details immediately through the mobile app. If a customer feels unsafe at any point during an interaction with a delivery person, the company advises them to contact local law enforcement.
Local authorities have also provided guidance for residents who might experience similar situations at their homes. The Houston Police Department noted that individuals should always report such incidents to the police and take steps to preserve any available evidence.
This includes saving footage from Ring cameras, doorbell cameras, or other surveillance systems that might have captured the event. According to the police, there is potential for criminal charges depending on the specific circumstances of the encounter.
