Día de Muertos, or ‘Day of the Dead’, is a Latin American holiday that joyfully celebrates the lives of loved ones that have passed away. To mark the occasion, Pokémon GO has launched the ‘Día de Muertos’ event, featuring special bonuses, free items, a collection challenge, event spawns and more.
In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know regarding the Día de Muertos event in Pokémon GO, which runs from November 1st, at 10:00 am to November 2nd, at 8:00 pm, local time.
Pokémon GO Día de Muertos Special Bonuses
There are a great number of special bonuses during Día de Muertos, but only some are global. The rest are exclusive to Latin America and the Caribbean, due to those locations being where the holiday is observed.
Global Bonuses
- Lures last 90 minutes
- Incense lasts 90 minutes
- 2x catch Stardust
Latin America and Caribbean Bonuses
- One bonus candy for transferring
- Increased featured Pokémon spawns in the wild
- Increased featured Pokémon spawns from Incense
- Increased featured Pokémon spawns at Lures
Don’t worry if you’re outside the areas with extra bonuses, as event Pokémon will still be spawning and a future Spotlight Hour will feature bonus transfer candy. You can visit our ‘Pokémon GO November Events‘ guide to find out when.
Free Event Box and Avatar Item
A vibrant Día de Muertos T-shirt is available for free by selecting it in the avatar customisation menu. A free event box is also available in the in-game shop that contains 1 Incense and 20 Poké Balls. Be sure to grab the box before it leaves the shop at the end of the event!
Pokémon GO Día de Muertos Spawns
Pokémon representing The Day of the Dead will be spawning in Pokémon GO throughout the event, such as Pokémon related to petals and skulls. Pokémon attracted to Lures and Incense remain the same, with the exception of Roselia and the addition of Alolan Marowak.
As mentioned previously, trainers in Latin America and the Caribbean will see more spawns, but the Pokémon that do spawn remain the same globally.
