One of the many new features in Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5 are Rifts that players will find across the map. So before you go jumping into a Rift in the heat of battle in Fortnite, you’ll want to know what to expect.
Essentially, the new Rifts in Fortnite: Battle Royale acts as a teleporter that will launch you high into the sky. Acting somewhat like a jump pad, the Rifts will teleport you high above the battlefield where you can then glide back to the ground after a brief animation.
Fortnite players are using the Rifts in both fun, creative, and functional ways already. The Rifts can get you out of gun fight that you may be losing as they allow you to glide to safety away from the area you jumped in at. The new All Terrain Kart can also be driven into the Rift to potentially escape players that may be targeting you. With the update only being out for a short time, players are already finding creative trick shot combinations using the Kart and Rift.
Like a lot of the new features introduced through updates in Fortnite, it’s unclear whether Rifts are here to stay or not, but while they are here we’re sure to see some changes to the way people are playing the game.
