Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 2022

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Releases in October With a Full Reveal Coming on June 8

Recommended Videos

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 finally has an official release date, and eagle-eyed fans have also spotted a tease for the game’s official reveal date which is much sooner than you may think. A new Call of Duty title is released every year, but that doesn’t stop fans from getting hyped when the first set of teasers begins to roll out around this time every year. Modern Warfare 2 is easily one of the most anticipated shooters in a long time, so it’s nice to finally have some confirmation regarding a release date.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles on October 28, 2022. The long-awaited sequel to the best-selling Call of Duty title ever is nearly here, featuring the fan-favorite operator Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley front and center on what could be the game’s cover art.

Of course, these marketing trains rely on a steady drip feed of information, so the only thing Call of Duty fans are getting for now is the game’s release date and some art depicting the game’s main cast. Task Force 141 is finally together for this sequel, bringing Captain Price, Soap, Gaz, and Ghost together for an all-new mission.

More information will be revealed before the October release date, with an alpha and beta likely incoming soon if the last two Call of Duty titles’ schedules are anything to go by. However, the official Modern Warfare 2 reveal could be coming very soon due to a tease featured in the release date announcement video.

Modern Warfare 2 Reveal Trailer Date

In the release date trailer, the phrase “J.8.22” can be seen spray painted onto a shipping container. Even though it only appeared for a short moment, fans definitely noticed, and it appears to hint that the full reveal for Modern Warfare 2 will take place on June 8, 2022.

That’s the ideal time for a game reveal, right smack dab in the middle of what used to be “E3 season.” Now, all we have is a summer of disjointed game reveals and showcases, but Call of Duty has stuck with the typical summer reveal schedule for quite some time. Expect to see some teasers popping up soon if the June 8 date is to be believed.

Modern Warfare 2 Leaks

Not much is known about Modern Warfare 2 officially yet, but there have been quite a few leaks so far. The game will reportedly feature an Escape From Tarkov-like DMZ mode where players infiltrate a zone, collect gear, and attempt to extract safely. The game will also launch with Warzone 2, a fully-fledged sequel to the mega popular battle royale game, and it’s rumored to borrow mechanics from games like Rainbow Six Siege and, again, Escape From Tarkov.

We’ll have to wait to hear more from developer Infinity Ward regarding the upcoming sequels, but in the meantime, the Season 3 Reloaded update has just arrived for Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific. Keeping in line with typical mid-season refreshes, this patch adds the brand-new H4 Blixen SMG, new transit stations to Caldera, and more.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
