As a Battle Royale shooter, Apex Legends will require a bit of inventory management. Yes, you can always swap out your weapon on the fly, but what do you do if you want a new type of grenade that doesn’t fit? What do you do if a friend needs a health pack, and you have extra? These questions don’t get answered by the tutorial, so we’re here to help. Here’s how to open inventory and drop items in Apex Legends.

How to Open Inventory

If you want to manage your inventory you have to be able to see it. The inventory in Apex Legends is controlled by a single button, which differs between console and PC. On PS4 it’s Options, Xbox One is Menu, and PC is Tab. After playing on PS4, it felt odd to switch around on PC, but the button is logical as far as its purpose and use. Hitting this button will enter the inventory screen, where you can see what you have equipped, and if you don’t want it anymore, you can drop it.

How to Drop Items

Dropping items is an important part of acting as a true team in Apex Legends. There’s no way to play solo, so you have to work together as a three person squad if you want to achieve victory. This means, if you have something that would be better in your teammate’s hands, you should drop it. To do this, just follow the instructions above to open the inventory screen, then hit the action button. For PC this is left mouse, PS4 is X, and Xbox One is A. Hitting this will chuck the item on the ground in front of you, where your squadmate can pick it right back up.

And that’s how to open inventory and drop items in Apex Legends.
