How to Change Slide and Mount Controls in Call of Duty: Vanguard

Recommended Videos

Call of Duty: Vanguard is finally here, and the first thing most players will want to do before venturing onto the front lines is adjust their control settings. Sliding and mounting are two of the most important things in Call of Duty, and the default settings are a bit strange in Vanguard. If you’re used to playing Warzone or Black Ops Cold War, then you’ll find the default settings to be different than what you’re used to. Here’s how you can change the sliding and mounting controls in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

How to Change Sliding Controls in Call of Duty: Vanguard

By default, sliding is set to “Hold.” That means you’ll have to hold the crouch button to start sliding, which makes slide canceling and other movement techniques harder to pull off.

To change this, open the Settings menu and navigate to the Gameplay section of the Controller tab. There, you can set Slide Behavior to either “Tap” or “Hold.” Most players will want to choose Tap, as this is the favored setting in Warzone and other Call of Duty titles.

How to Change Vanguard Mounting Controls

After being absent in last year’s game, mounting returns in Call of Duty: Vanguard. It was first introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and is featured in Warzone as well, but in those games, the default setting requires players to press the melee button in order to mount their weapon. In Vanguard, the default mount settings are different. All you have to do is press the ADS button near an edge to mount.

To change this, open the game’s Settings menu and go to the Gameplay section of the Controller tab. There, you can set Weapon Mount Activation to one of three options. You can leave it as the default “ADS” option, or you can set it to the Warzone-default “ADS + Melee” setting. There’s a ‘Double-Tap ADS” setting that’s new to Vanguard as well, and you can even disable mounting altogether if you so choose.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
