New York City looks absolutely stunning in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, during daytime and nighttime. You may want to swing through the city at night or day, so this guide will explain if you can change the time of day in Spider-Man 2.
Can You Change Time of the Day in Spider-Man 2?
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the time of day in Spider-Man 2. This is very unfortunate for players who wish to swing through New York City at night, checking out the light from the skyscrapers.
It’s a weird decision by Insomniac Games to leave this feature out of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, especially considering changing the time of day was available in both the Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales games. It’s undetermined if Insomniac forgot to add this feature or intentionally left it out of the final version.
When Does the Time of Day Change in Spider-Man 2?
The only moments the game will change the time of day is during specific missions in the game. Particular side and main missions take place at night, so once you start them, the time of day will instantly change.
Once players beat all the missions that take place at night, the time of day will always be during the daytime. This is a huge letdown, considering it pretty much locks players out from experiencing New York City at night.

Will a Changing Time of Day Feature be Added to Spider-Man 2?
At the time of writing, there is no confirmation if changing the time of day feature will be added to any update or patch in the future. That said, so many players from the Spider-Man 2 community are voicing their concerns about the missing feature, so Insomniac Games may listen and add it. I’m no game developer, but I can’t imagine adding a feature such as this to be challenging and time-consuming.
There is already confirmation that new game plus will be added to Spider-Man 2 before the end of 2023, so hopefully, we will see a feature letting players change the time of day as well.
