How Does Wordle Work?

Wordle is a free browser game where you have six attempts per play to guess the word of the day. Each word you submit will yield clues based on its color. Grey letters mean that they aren’t used at all in a word. Letters in yellow mean that they do exist, but are needed elsewhere in terms of positioning. Finally, green means it exists and it’s in the right place.

Because of this, you should not repeat previously used letters. The more you rule out, the more likely you’ll hit accurate letters. You should also avoid repeating any since each letter you got right or wrong can be used to get that much closer to the word of the day. You should only repeat letters in the event that you honestly can’t make any more words based on the remainder of those that you have.
