Metro Exodus: How to Throw Knives and Other Items

Recommended Videos

Metro Exodus has a deep inventory of items you can use to help survive. You’ve always got your trusty guns, including the Tikhar Air Gun that has become a series staple over the years. On top of this though is a bunch of things like knives, cans, and other things you can throw for various effects. The game is pretty complicated though, and doesn’t go too in-depth on how to use these things. To help, here’s our guide on how to throw knives and other items in Metro Exodus.

First of all, to throw anything you have to already have picked it up. Knives, cans, and other things can be picked up all around the world. Just perform your usual scans for crafting materials and such and you should end up with a healthy inventory of items you can throw all over the place. You can also craft them by using your backpack or a workbench. Once you have a decent selection you just need to decide what your goal is. Are you looking to kill someone or something? Throw a knife at them. Want to distract some sentry guard away from his post? Cans will do the trick. Once you decide, it’s all about managing that inventory.

Your throwable inventory is managed with the right bumper on Xbox One, R1 on PS4, and C on PC. This includes grenades and molotovs, so be careful in here if you don’t want to go burning the whole place down. Hold down that button and look to the bottom left of the screen to see your items. Using the D-Pad on consoles or moving the mouse in the corresponding direction on PC you can pick what you want to throw. To do so just hit the button you were holding before: right bumper on Xbox One, R1 on PS4, and C on PC.

Doing this is how to throw knives and other items in Metro Exodus.
