Mortal Kombat 11: How to Perform a Mercy

While finishing off your opponent with a Fatality is easily one of the most satisfying things to do in Mortal Kombat 11, some people might feel like offering them a second chance. Strangely enough, their is a way to do this with the new feature called Mercy. Instead of following the instructions of finishing your enemy, you can give them new life, literally as a Mercy grants them some of their health back and begins another round of Kombat. A little bit different than the Friendship from Mortal Kombat 3, Mercy is a cool new twist and here’s how you perform one.

How To Perform a Mercy

Just as it sounds, Mercies are the complete opposite of a Fatality. While a Fatality starts a special sequence of gore and violence, a Mercy restores a small amount of health for the losing fighter, allowing them to try and win one more time. You can only perform a Mercy one time in a match, so trolls can’t keep it going forever. Plus, some challenges from The Krypt require you to perform Mercies at one point or another, so it’s good practice to know how to use it.

But let’s make no mistake about, a Mercy is all about showing absolute domination to your opponent. Whats more humiliating than losing not once, but twice in the same fight? To perform a Mercy, press the Left Trigger (L2 on PS4, LT on Xbox, L on Switch) then whilst holding down that trigger press down three times and then release it. Keep in mind that this is all done during the FINISH HIM/HER phase of the fight. If done correctly, your opposing player will receive a small amount of health before rising up for another round.
