If you’ve faced off against other real players in Red Dead Online then you’ve likely seen them dive. This dodge maneuver is extremely useful during player versus player battles, as you can dodge bullets and get out of the way of danger before returning fire. The trick to pulling it off is pretty easy, but the game doesn’t make it entirely clear. If you want to be the best gun in the West then you need to know how to dive in Red Dead Online.

Similar to the single player game, the way to dive in Red Dead Online is that you draw and ready your weapon. Aim in any direction, but likely toward your opponent or the oncoming danger. Move in whichever direction you want to dive, then press Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One. This will initiate the dive in the direction you were traveling.

This jumping dive maneuver is great for getting behind nearby cover, or just getting out of the way of bullets and other things. Say someone is charging you on their horse, or has a clear shot at your from down the road. Instead of letting them get that shot on you, you can dive toward a tree or wall and get out of trouble.

Knowing how to dive in Red Dead Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 is key to winning battles and getting better at the game. Hopefully this helps, but let us know if you have any questions in the comments below.
