Resident Evil 2 loves tossing random items at you without saying what to do with them or where. One of these is the battery, found within the S.T.A.R.S. office on a random desk. You don’t really learn much else about it, so players are wondering what to do with this cryptic item. Here’s where to use the battery in Resident Evil 2 Remake.

The answer is actually pretty logical, but if you aren’t far enough in the game, or thinking enough about what you’ve found so far, it might escape you. Where do you use the battery? On the C4 Detonator. Yes, this item was discovered a bit randomly as well, and while its use makes much more sense and is clearer to players, but it wouldn’t work on its own. The battery is the answer, and all you need to do is combine the two to create the fully functional C4 Detonator.

Open up your inventory and select either the Detonator or the Battery, then choose combine. Select the other item and they will join together, powering up the Detonator so it can be used on that tricky wall upstairs. What do you do after that? Check out this guide for all the answers.

That’s where to use the battery in Resident Evil 2 Remake.
