Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s second DLC character release is finally here. After months of anticipation, Joker has arrived, bringing a new challenger to the SSBU scene. DLC releases can vary in type, making it hard to understand what’s needed to unlock the new character. If you’ve been playing this whole time, then you might already know how this all works. But for those who just jumped on the bandwagon, here’s how to get Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
How to Get Joker
The process is similar to how to get Piranha Plant, but as this is the first paid DLC for SSBU, it does have more requirements. Once he is released into the wild, which should happen some time today, April 17th. Once Nintendo flips the switch you’ll need to make sure you have the latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update. To do this just go to the Switch main menu. Hover over the SSBU icon and press Plus. This will bring up a sub-menu where you can choose to look for a new update.
Once you have it, Joker will be added to your character roster without any input on your part. That is, if you’ve bought the DLC. Joker is the first fully paid character being added to SSBU, so you might still have to grab the pack. You can buy Joker separately or as a part of the Fighter Pass. This bundle will give you all five paid DLC characters for a discounted price. Buying individually runs $4.99 a piece. You can get either from the eShop on your Switch.
