Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: How to Unlock Isabelle

While SSBU made headlines for including every previous fighter from the series, it’s the new characters that longtime fans are most excited to unlock. Few were as big a surprise addition as Isabelle, from Animal Crossing. This helpful Mayor’s assistant brings some real fighting power to the roster, so you’ll probably want to get her unlocked fast. Here’s how to unlock Isabelle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

You’d think Villager would be involved, and if you’re playing World of Light you would be correct. As usual, every character can be unlocked in SSBU’s adventure mode, so you can play through this and look for Villager’s specific section to track down Isabelle. However, there are usually faster ways to get your characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so how do you unlock Isabelle in other ways?

For Classic Mode you need to beat it with Pikachu. Since he is a default character that helps a lot, but the unlock provided isn’t guaranteed. Depending on what other characters you have unlocked at the time, you may receive someone else as a challenger. Play through Classic Mode enough times with Pikachu though and Isabelle will pop up. Any character that you have unlocked by playing as Pikachu in Classic Mode can be used to unlock Isabelle.  The order is Villager, Shulk, ROB, Mega Man, and then Isabelle.  Depending on whether you’ve unlocked any of these characters in other modes the order may vary.

Otherwise you’re stuck with the usual Versus method of loading random games for awhile. Isabelle seems to be one of the earlier characters to unlock through this method, though she still requires a few tries for most. Try whichever one works best for the place you are now in SSBU.
