FIFA 16 launched a couple of days ago to high critical praise (we gave it a 4.5/5 in our review). Now that the game is out EA Sports is looking back at everything that led up to the launch, including the Preseason Demo that was released ten days ago.
In that short span of time the FIFA 16 demo was downloaded by 6.4 million people, setting a new record for the series. “It has been incredible to see the number of fans already engaging in and enjoying FIFA 16 through EA Access and our preseason demo,” said Nick Channon, Senior Producer of EA SPORTS FIFA. “We are very excited with the early feedback, particularly on the balanced gameplay, and now that the game is launching across the globe, we shift our focus to providing the best live service in the industry.”
Of course, the demo wasn’t the only way to get early access to FIFA 16. Xbox One players with EA Access got some extra time with the game before release. Combine those games with ones played on the FIFA 16 demo and you end up with over 13 million matches played before the game officially launched.
Sales figures aren’t out yet for the launch of FIFA 16, but it’s not hard to imagine that a good portion of those 6.4 million players converted to full game owners at launch. FIFA 16 is available now on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
