Analyst Predicts Super Mario Run Will Surpass 1 Billion Downloads

Yesterday Shigeru Miyamoto shocked everyone by taking the stage at the Apple Event and announcing a new Mario game for iOS called Super Mario Run. While the game will undoubtedly be a massive hit when it launches later this year, one analyst has made some pretty bold predictions in regards to just how massive.

Video game analyst Dr. Serkan Toto took to Twitter recently to give his thoughts on where he thinks Super Mario Run will fall in terms of overall downloads, where he predicted that the game will surpass 1 billion downloads in its life cycle. He goes on to say “To clarify what I mean by predicting 1 billion+ downloads for Super Mario Run: this is for the initial (*free*) DL of the app. 1bn easy.”

Nintendo certainly hasn’t been a slouch when it comes to success with mobile games, with their relatively new existence in the mobile industry going very well with Miitomo and much more so with Pokemon Go. They also have Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem mobile games in the works, though they haven’t shared much information on those yet.

Super Mario Run is an endless runner that will be coming out later this year for iOS, though it will also come to Android at a later date that has not yet been specified.
