Anonymous not involved in Xbox Live downtime

Yesterday’s Xbox Live outage was not a result of a hacking operation by the Anonmyous Group.  While yesterday we claimed that they “may be involved” in the downtime, after multiple readers directed us to comments being made via Twitter.  Today, we’ve been guided by the community once again to a more offical statement from the group.

“XBOX Live was NOT hacked by Anonymous,”  according to the group’s “Official Twitter Page”.

The Xbox Live downtime is in getting smaller and smaller in the rear-view, and it seems less and less likely that the group played any role in the outage.  Microsoft has issued an official statement on the status of their network.

“If you were one of the members who was having issues signing in to Xbox LIVE, good news! This issue has been fixed! Thank you so much for your patience during this time, feel free to go enjoy your favourite games and content!”

The Xbox Status page is still showing that some problems are persisting, but they are definitely not as wide-spread as they were yesterday.
