Eric Chahi of the studio Pixel Reef announced on a PlayStation Blog post a brand new game for the PSVR, as well as the PlayStation 4. Titled Paper Beast, the trailer looks absolutely stunning and is filled with Chahi’s trademark animation work, as well some breathtaking landscapes. Paper Beast already looks like it will be a must play for Sony’s VR system, and that’s just the trailer.
Those who don’t recognize Chahi’s work, his most well known project was the groundbreaking animation game Another World which came out way back in 1991 and revolutionized how people viewed and played games. We’re glad he hasn’t changed his animation habit, as the game looks amazing so far. According to Chahi, the games world is inspired by Big Data, and is made up of codes and binaries that have come from “the vast memory of a data server.”
Every living creature takes on the form of a type of paper. Whether it’s been crumbled or it’s an intricate origami, all beasts and landscapes look like they’ve been taken right out of an arts and crafts project to be given new life. Chahi also stated that Paper Beast will be releasing for the PSVR before the PS4. The game looks like it has been built with the VR in mind first and foremost, which makes the announcement not all that surprising. We won’t have to wait too long though, as the game is scheduled to come out sometime this year.
Paper Beast will launch for the PSVR later in 2019, and in 2020 for the PS4. You can check out the reveal trailer here:
