Studio Wildcard has revealed today that they have officially added the fan-made map called The Center to the game, which is available to download right now for free. The map originally began as a fan mod, though the developers were so impressed with it that it is now an official part of the game. It’s available on both PC and Xbox One.

Here’s what the developers had to say about the new content:

“The Center is filled with stunning lighting effects, lava rivers, giant picturesque mountains, misty floating islands, ancient underground ruins, enormous ice caves, and of course beyond the breathtaking sights there lay dangerous threats and mysterious secrets to unravel with you and your tribe mates.”

The map doubles the in-game geography of the ARK landscape, with different ecosystems to be found throughout. The content is available to download right now, which you can get through Steam by clicking right here. Studio Wildcard will also add new 100-player Official Servers along with the latest update that comes with more tweaks and fixes.

Modder Ben Burkart was responsible for the creation of the map, making it the first mod to be turned into an Official Mod. In an awesome turn of events, Studio Wildcard was so pleased with Burkart that they actually offered him a job that he accepted.

A new trailer was released for The Center map, which you can check out below.
