Assassin’s Creed does have an ending, but don’t expect it soon

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

Ubisoft does have an ending planned for the Assassin’s Creed series, but don’t expect to see it anytime soon, considering that Ubisoft has committed to delivering a yearly release of the franchise.  In a recent interview with Ashraf Ismail, Director of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, the developer explains how the teams at Ubisoft have developed the storyline for Assassin’s Creed to allow for this yearly release cycle, and then one day bring the franchise to conclusion.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Ismail explains: “We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is. But of course Yves [Guillemot, Ubisoft’s overall boss] announced we are a yearly title, we ship one game a year. So depending on the setting, depending on what fans want, we’ve given ourselves room to fit more in this arc. But there is an end.”

Assassin’s Creed is one of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, it’s not likely going away anytime soon.  Year after year, gamers keep flocking back to the series and its new historical settings.  Nobody knows when we’ll see the end of this franchise, but from the sounds of it, you may not even care by the time they get around to wrapping things up.
