Rumor: Assassin’s Creed Next Game ‘Origins’ First Image & Details Leak

As it does around this time of the year, games that are due to be announced at E3 begin to leak.  This week, the Assassin’s Creed series has found itself the topic of discussion.  Just yesterday a rumor surfaced that called the game Assassin’s Creed Origins, and that it would introduce a new main character and explore the beginnings of the lore in an Ancient Egyptian setting.

Today, an off-screen image surfaced on Reddit that very well may be our first glimpse at what the next Assassin’s Creed Game looks like. If the image is indeed real, the apparent objective text in the top left corner of the image seems to confirm the Ancient Egyptian setting.

The two messages say:  Assassinate the Crocodile & Follow Shadya? to Khenut’s Villa.  Redditors quickly pointed out that Khenut was a Queen of Egypt and the wife of King Unas, living during the time of the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt.

The rumor also suggests that players will once again have modern day segments alongside the historical gameplay, but the game itself is broken into smaller segments that take place in different times. While most of the information is being round-up on the Assassin’s Creed Reddit, another piece to the puzzle is that most of the team from Assassin’s Creed 4 are the developers behind this return to the series after a one year hiatus.

If the setting and team behind the game turn out to be true, this next Assassin’s Creed game may very well be worth the wait.  Assassin’s Creed IV was one of the most highly rated games in the series since its inception.
