A new report today suggests that Batman: Arkham Origins is the first game in the Batman Arkham franchise to feature a multiplayer component. An anonymous source has divulged to Kotaku that Origins will feature “at least one” multiplayer mode.
While it’s just a rumor for now, the report claims that players will “play as a member of Joker or Bane’s gang while trying to take down Batman and Robin,” with players controlling “playable and customizable” characters like “Killer Croc, Black Mask, Deathstroke, Deadshot, Firefly, and an Electroman character.”
While fans have shown some concern about the developer change from Rocksteady to Warner Bros. Montreal, the developers of Arkham City and Arkham Asylum have said that they have full confidence in the Montreal team. Rocksteady’s Sefton Hill said “We are confident that this talented team will craft a fantastic experience, bringing the origins of the Arkhamverse to life.”
Batman: Arkham Origins was announced earlier this month, and will arrive in late-October on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. The title is slated to arrive side-by-side with a handheld version of the game for PS Vita and 3DS, titled Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate.
