Battleborn will be adding microtransactions to its marketplace this week, adding a platinum currency to the game along with many new cosmetic items. This will go live in an update on June 16th, in a move that seems to bring it closer to what is offered with Overwatch.
As for what this cosmetic content is, it includes things like new skins and taunts. Of course, just like in Overwatch, none of this content will impact the gameplay and will not give players any kind of an advantage in battle. 2K is looking to expand upon this going forward, including things like credit earnings and XP boosts.
Skins costs 420 platinum and taunts cost 230 platinum, which you get by purchasing platinum packs. The following is the pricing breakdown:
- $1.99 for 230 Platinum
- $4.99 for 700 Platinum
- $9.99 for 1625 Platinum
- $19.99 for 3500 Platinum
- $49.99 for 9300 Platinum
Battleborn is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out 2K’s vision for the game going forward by clicking right here.
