Blizzard has yet another unannounced title in the works. This time, however, we have at least some idea of what this game will be related to: Overwatch.
This revelation comes via Blizzard’s career’s page which has a listing for a Generalist Artist Intern who would be working at the company for the summer of 2018.
“An unannounced project at Blizzard is seeking an intern to help create a wide range of assets to help bring our game to life,” reads the job ad. “You will work closely with our concept, environment and character teams to create hard surface and organic props, weapons and possibly characters that are both detail-oriented and consistent with the art style we’ve defined.”
Despite it not explicitly mentioning the name of the title, the listing does state that the applicant would need to have knowledge and understanding of the Overwatch universe. As such, it’s clear that this new title will be connected to Overwatch in some capacity.
Unfortunately, it’s still unclear what the nature of this title would be. At this point anything is possible, such as a story campaign or mobile spin-off. Heck, even a sequel is a possibility — albeit a remote one.
One thing that we can be fairly certain of though, is that this title is separate from the listing for the MMO/RTS hybrid that emerged two weeks ago, as this ad makes no mention of a platform or genre that these assets would be used for.
In the meantime, its unlikely we’ll be hearing more about this title anytime soon. Considering that the artist required to assist in creating assets for this Overwatch title will be coming in Summer 2018, we can expect to hear some news about this anytime after.
In either case, between this title, the MMO/RTS hybrid and unannounced shooter, Blizzard has quite a lot of work ahead of it — assuming they’re all separate titles, of course.
