Koji Igarashi, famed Castlevania producer has been teasing fans lately with his Sword Or Whip? website that appeared late last week and todays reveal has shown that he is now working on a brand new game titled Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night.

The Kickstarter just launched earlier today at around 11am PDT right around the time the twitch stream went live. Now the game has already surpassed the initial funding of $500,000 and is working its way up to include more bonuses for backers and more playable characters. The stretch goals include the following:

Hardcover Artbook @ $600,000

Second Playable Character @ $700,000

Nightmare Difficulty Mode @ $800,000

Voice Acting, Including David Hayter @ $850,000

Once the word gets around it will likely hit that $850,000 max stretch goal in due time. It’s quite a big deal that he is doing this without any major publisher support being that he is considered one of the fathers of the genre. Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night looks to be a ‘Igavanaia’ in the same style of Castlevania and takes place within a demon-infested castle. The developers have been announced to be that of Inti Creates who is also developing the Kickstarter backed Mighty No. 9.

The interesting thing going on at the Kickstarter page is that he is setting individual goals for those who follow on Twitter, Youtube, Facebook or even those who submit videos for a chance to earn individual rewards in their personal copies of the game as well as an overall backer achievement goals that all backers will receive if they hit them. It’s all pretty unique and not something I’ve personally seen on Kickstarter before. Check out the video for the reveal of Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night.

The estimated delivery of Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night is set at March 2017 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, or Steam (PC/Mac/Linux). Kickstarter backers will receive physical copies of the game. At the time of writing, it sits at $598,436. I guess the companies were wrong about fans not wanting more of the genre, Koji Igarashi is surely sitting somewhere laughing happily as he creates what looks to be another interesting Castlevania-type of game.

UPDATE

Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night now stands at over $870,000 which means it has surpassed all of its current stretch goals. That includes having David Hayter in the game as a voice actor.
